Being a celebrant is absolutely wonderful. People invite you in to their worlds and entrust you with one of the most important days of their lives. It really is an honour and privilege to be part of these moments.

Having spent the last 28 years of my life in advertising, writing catchy headlines, clever end lines and witty jingles for large brands and corporations, it’s amazing to be able to now use my writing skills and creativity to create something special for individual people – far, far more rewarding.

Nothing beats the feeling you get when you know that you’ve created and delivered a ceremony that is just right; to see smiles on faces and tears in eyes through words that you have written is just magical.

You don’t need to have any official qualifications to be a celebrant. But I’m a stickler for doing things properly. So, when I decided to make the career change from advertising creative director to celebrant extraordinaire, I wanted to find the best people in the business to teach me how to do it just right.

I trained with Civil Ceremonies –one of the original instigators of Celebrants in the UK, and the people who actually originated Naming Ceremonies.

Through them I achieved a NOCN Level 3 Diploma in Celebrancy: Namings and Couples, which is the highest qualification you can achieve in this field. Go me!
